Whale Harbor Islamorada Off-Shore Fishing Forecast:

Along with the Islamorada Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Kingfish, and Cobia action we are looking forward to more Wahoo. These fish are already starting to show up in daily catches. Wahoo are a special sport fish that often becomes more available in big numbers during the months of January, and February. The full moon in February has often been regarded as Islamorada's peak month for targeting Wahoo. The warmer winter weather may encourage an earlier arrival of these great fish. A great way to catch Wahoo is to slow troll live Speedos, and Cigar Minnows near the edge of the reef. Other faster methods work well; however big Wahoo find a live Speedo hard to resist. Large Mutton Snapper have also begun showing up on the deeper wrecks, and reef areas. In the past Januaries we have enjoyed catching many big Mutton Snappers in these deeper areas. We anticipate these Snapper will continue to increase in numbers as water temperatures continues to cool.
