Sail fishing is atop once again. Double digits for most trips with some only getting 1–2 fish only. Most places in the world consider one sail fish a great day. Not here in Miami. We are spoiled by the abundance of sails patrolling the reef 2-4 miles offshore. Every trip, 18 so far, we have been blessed.
Good baits have being easy to get, and as I have said in the past it is key to sail fishing. At this time of the year remember to put bigger baits out as bigger sails are in the area. Catch them with Sabiki Rigs and not your net. Netted baits will die quicker. Remember is all about presentation.
Dolphin are readily coming to our kite baits as well as kingfish, black fin tuna and bonitas. The kites are doing marvels for us. Two kites are better than one and 3 clips are better than 2. Sound confusing? It is not. Take the time to learn this technique and your fishing will improve dramatically.
We are waiting for the bigger Kings to show up. Live bait will do the trick. Be ready!
Sword fishing is on the hold due to weather.
Remember to release whatever you are not eating or keeping. Keep it clean for the little ones behind us to ensure that they will enjoy fishing as much as we do.
Keep your emails coming with any questions.
Tight lines…
