Salmon Reprt from the waterville fishery

23/2/09 local Gillie Mr Mike O'Dwyer caught a fine 9lbs Salmon on the troll, on the South side, in Copal, and I can tell you when he landed his fine fish, you would have thought he had won the notional lottery and that's what I call enthusiasm and may it long continue, and for the rest of we Anglers, no comment. Wind NNW light to calm and overcast with light drizzle on the odd occasion so light I doubt if it registered, so my waterproofs tell me. Total amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours 1.9mm, max air temperature 10.9c 24/2/09 I wasn't manipulating my Repala's to day, I got all today's facts from Mr Vincent O'Sullivan and of WWW.Vincentsfishing.com and he was telling me that Lough Currane was flat calm, so flat you could see the reflection of the mountain side reflecting on the water for most of the day, and what wind was there came from the W, late this afternoon and that was all the action my noble Anglers saw. Max air temperature 11.1c. 25/2/09 It was a better fishing day than yesterday, but my Noble salmon were elusive as ever. Amount of rainfall 0.2mm, max air temperature 12c. 27/2/09 Again there were about five or six boats out, and they all failed miserably in their duties be it in the Fly or trolling department. Wind SW light to fresh and overcast with light drizzle this morning and with sunny intervals this afternoon, amount of rainfall 0.1mm.max air temperature 11.4c. 28/2/09 Nice conditions this morning, but come 1pm the rain started to bucket down and it made a very small flood, which hardly registered, amount of rainfall 9.5mm but with all that we Anglers failed to conquer my Noble Salmon, even though Mr Brod O'Sullivan of Stella Maris Guesthouse Waterville, was telling me that he lost a fine Salmon at the Bridge this morning, but alas losses don't count. Wind SW light to calm and overcast. Max air temperature 10.5c. 1/3/09 There were nice conditions on Lough Currane today, with a nice fresh to NW wind blowing, ideal for the fly or troll. But again my noble Anglers were not communicating or contacting Lough Currane wild Atlantic Salmon and I can tell you one thing, we anglers who haven't caught my noble Salmon will have a wild evening in the back of the Lobster when we do, so watch this space.
