Sal Mattino

Hello again from St.Lucie Sportfishing Charters,I am Captain Sal with this report. The summer of 2009 has been one of the better seasons of summer fishing than in recent years. The live bait fish have been cooperative most of the time but back-up baits such as rigged ballyhoo and an assortment of frozen baits should be made availble. On occasion I also depend on reliable lures such as the cedar plug with a nice strip of Bonito tagging along.

This trip was just as productive as recent trips producing an Atlantic Sailfish on the first drift.Video of the action is being reviewed as I report. The Kingfish bite is still very strong producing two schoolie Kings. We had many King runs with unfortunatley numerous cut-offs.I do not use stinger hooks because I believe that cuts down the strike ratio.Boneheads are filling in the voids between tablefare fish.We had about a four foot Barracuda on a light spinning tackle with 15 pound test line. That was exciting only to be cut off after a short battle. That's my report from St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters,I am Capt.Sal,boat safe, fish hard!See you next time!
