Clients of Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing have been finding some pretty incredible kayak fishing opportunities from Tampa Bay to Charlotte Harbor, and everywhere in between.

Redfish are starting to school up into larger schools as the bigger ones are getting ready to head into the Gulf to join the breeding population. This is the best time of year to find some really huge Reds. The mojority of the fish out there are in the high slot sizes or bigger. Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing is finding good schools roaming shallow flats at the low tides. The best action is coming early in the morning. While night fishing there are also big schools hanging around the dock lights in many areas.

This has been the best year for Snook that I have seen in a long while. Big Snook are still around in many of the same areas that they have been for the past couple of months as well as in the potholes on the flats as they gorge themselves on the recent whitebait explosion. A bait well full of pilchards is the key to success in many areas. Night fishing is also a sure bet for nice numbers of Snook right now. The fish are stacked up along the lights in the ICW and deep passes.

The best sea trout action is by far the first bite of the morning. You have about a 45 minute window after the sun peaks over the horizon for really big trout on the flats. As the day progresses the smaller trout have also been more than willing to cooperate.

Tarpon! The Tarpon are finding their way into the bays and passes as they move in from the Gulf, These post spawn fish are now eacerly scooping up baits along many area bridges, especially at night. Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing clients have also jumped two 100 pound or better fish in about 2.5 feet of water on an area grass flat while fishing topwaters for trout. Big pilchards, herring, sardines, or pinfish fished along the shadow lines of bridges is a great way to some late season Tarpon fishing.

Rounding out the action is the great numbers of mangrove Snapper. It seems like every piece of structure is holding Snappers from 10" up to 17" in some areas. Falling water is the best time to fish for these tasty fish.
