Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing clients have been seeing the same consistant bite from great numbers of big Snook, as well as Redfish, Sea Trout, Snapper, and small Tarpon as they have been for almost two months.
Big Snook, and great numbers of smaller Snook have been the name of the game for some time now in many areas of southern Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay. These fish have been found primarily along mangrove lines with deep drop offs and good flowing water. The fish have been in schools of over 100 fish at times but usually we have been finding them in schools of 10 to 20 in these areas. Working baits both artificial and live with the current has produced non-stop catch and release action on linesiders.
Redfish are really starting to school up from Port Manatee down through Sarasota. These fish are beginning to school as the larger fish are preparing to move into the Gulf and join the breeding populations. Falling tides have been the best as clients of Sun Coast Kayak SPort Fishing are finding great Redfish action on the grass flats, and along structure such as Mangroves and oyster bars. Topwaters, live baits and cut bait are all sure tickets to some tight lines from these bronze bruisers.
Sea Trout and Snapper have been very easy to come by lately and if once Sun Coast Kayak SPort Fishing clients have found their fill of Snook and Redfish we have been closing out the day with some fast Trout and Snapper fishing to complete the famed Inshore Slam. The Snapper are everywhere there is moving water and structure while the biggest trout have been in the deeper cuts along grass flat edges.
Small tarpon are also in good numbers in a lot of area canals and backwaters. For those who don't want to tangle with the big 'Poons these pint sized fish between 20# and 50# have all the flash and show of their bigger brothers and sisters but in an easier to manage package.
