Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing clients have been seeing some really great action for Snook and Redfish extending from southern Tampa Bay down to Roberts Bay. The warmer weather has been a great boost to the local fishing and Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing has been able to run charters in more easily accessible areas and finally move out of the backcountry for a while.
Snook fishing is as good as it gets right now. Baitfish are flooding the flats and the big Snook are gorging themselves as they stage up to begin spawning. This is the best time to get in on some really amazing action for Snook and have your best chances of the year at truely catching and releasing a huge Snook. Over the past two weeks Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing is seeing more and more Snook on the flats and clients are catching some really big fish.
Redfish are making their presence known right now too as they forage the flats and along the mangrove lined shores of southern Tampa Bay down through Sarasota Bay. Many of the fish clients are encountering have been slot sized fish from 20" to 25" with fish to 33" also caught and released safely. Right now it seems anywhere you can find forage, moving water, and structure that you will encounter redfish.
Sea Trout are on the move as well and the flats early in the morning and late in the afternoon have been producing great catches of Spotted Sea Trout up to 26" with the majority of the fish we are seeing in the 18" to 21" range. Topwater fishing has been the most productive for clients of Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing but other artificials such as Pins Minnows and DOA Shrimp are producing well too.
Down in the urban canals of Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing has been targeting large Peacocks and finding very good numbers. The average Peacock has been between 3# and 5# with fish to almost 9# encountered and released too. Clients are seeing a high catch rate of up to 20 Peacocks per angler per day with many, many sight fishing opportunities.
The Everglades canals are also producing some truely fantastic fishing for Largemouth Bass, Oscar, and Midas Cichlid. The water levels are falling which concentrates the fish into the main canals - producing explosive fishing opportunities in these areas. Clients of Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing are seeing catch rates of up to 100 fish per day.
