Saturday we loaded up with the clams and headed out, on our first drop we had 3 bass and a few Bluefish but the conditions started to change so we moved to the outside and it was a good choice. We had 11 more bass and constant action with the bluefish. We ended with 7 nice keeper bass, a lot of action. The bluefish were very thick and so were the skates. The largest bass was about 18lbs.
Sunday we got out early and found the bass right away, it was a very good morning. Dave Trumboure had 4 nice bass in the first hour. we had 16 bass until we got mugged by boats sight fishing. The crowd got large we decided to move, so we ran down the beach. It was all bluefish and skates so we returned north, on the knoll we found a few more bass and lots of bluefish. It was a very nice morning with the weather and the guys fished very hard for the Bass. Bill Stofan had the largest 24lbs and he dropped one that was even larger.
Sunday Night was a totally different story, Clouds, light Rain and that dreaded south wind made for an interesting night. We tried 5 spots and all the charter wanted was a bass. We fished hard for the bass but the bluefish just would not give us a chance. As soon as the bait went back there was a bluefish waiting. The blues bit off over 50 hooks along with the all the ones boated and released. We released fish after fish for 2 hours it was constant blues but not one bass. We also picked a few throwback fluke and some skates. I really wanted to get a few bass for these guys. But the positive side, lots of fish and lots of action.
