Captain Judy's Saltwater Fishing Report
Which includes:
Inshore report, Offshore Report, Freshies Suggestions, and "Little Miss Judy's Believe It or Not!" (Story)
Inshore Report
Savannah River Area
During this time of the year fishermen need to find them a "starting point!" There are several ways to get to this point. First, you can try and put yourself in a dozen places at one time, which doesn't work too well. The second is to listen to what other fishermen say. Or get out the old logbook so as to take a "look see." I prefer going with the latter two suggestions. Being a fisherman myself I know that we do tend to "exaggerate" when it comes to the length and weight of our catch, but that's fishing!
Listening is always an option where you can sift through information handed. Take for instance this past week. Someone caught not from a boat, but the banks some nice striped bass and big red fish. Not knowing for sure exactly where the catching exactly took place at least until I started narrowing down the information. After a few it was ascertained that the " rock covered banks by River Street" was "the fishing location!" Now after reading all of this you now know what I mean by a "starting point!"
We had couple of inshore and offshore boats fish this area last week. The inshore boats definitely had the advantage returning with nice catches of spotted sea trout, red fish, blue fish, and flounder being caught and released! Although there weren't any reports of striped bass being caught "eyes were wide open in search" for this fish! For those of you that want to get a chance at one of these fish this is the "starting point!" The reason being is there isn't just one fish making way!
Best check to make sure where you are fishing whether or not it's considered "South Caroline or Georgia!" Both states require that you have a fishing license! Now that I have made such a fuss about where you might start to look I guess I need to give you some ideas of what you could use for bait. It's simple and too the point, "use what you have!" Most fish were caught on live shrimp under traditional and popping cork rigs. Please don't rule out bottom fishing, because it just might shock you, because it also works quite well especially during this time frame!
