Savannah Snapper Banks
The bottom fishing has been on the "wide open" mode! Once again I know that I am sounding like that "old broken record!" However, the bottom line is this: Live bait such as cigar minnows or Spanish sardines are working quite well when put on the bottom. Roaming red snapper as well as "freight train pulling" grouper are waiting to jump on your hooks! There's more…You can add this to your bottom catching list: triggerfish, white grunts, also known as hog nose, porgy (white bone, red, and knobbed porgy) doormat size flounder, large black sea bass, vermilion snapper, and spot tail pin fish.
Mid Water Column Fish
We have been catching Almaco jack, amberjack, black jack, and cobia while plain old bottom fishing at the snapper banks. As stated these are mid water column fish, which means their main feeding zone is going to be as said "mid-water." When dropping to the bottom these fish find even dead baits interesting and offer up a great fight once hooked. The best news of all is that when hooked up those that aren't normally followed to the surface, which offers quite a showing for our customers.
