Happy Fish Day!

Saltwater inshore, offshore, blue water fishing report, Freshies Suggestions, and "Little Miss Judy's story! Thanks for reading! Captain Judy

Savannah Snapper Banks

At this time it seems that it has been weeks since I have been fishing. Although it has only been five days, it certainly does seem longer. With hurricane/tropical storm "Hanna" not being able to make up her mind in regards to her exact heading she have been producing lots of waves and winds for our area.

The good news is that this wasn't a major storm and as soon as it passes I'm out of here and heading to the ocean. The fish bite should be great, because "fall is in the air!" The temperatures are still quite warm, but the fall trend has been put into motion making changes while we have been waiting the storm out.

Here's what I am going to do…

The first thing I am going to do is to look for some live bait. Hopefully, when I find it I will be able to catch it! I always suggest using the gold hook Sabiki type bait rigs. These work great and normally you can catch more that four to five baits at a time. Since I have customer onboard I want to get this the bait catching job done as quick as possible. However, I must admit that my customers really do like catching bait! I had a customer tell me the other day that while bait fishing they had caught more fish than they had in a lifetime. With possible six people fishing at a time I like to catch around 200 bait fish. However, sometimes we do and sometimes we don't!

Once I have caught my bait I heading to around 100 feet of water. In my book bag I am already going to have specific bottom drops listed that I am going to fish in sequence. I always have at least 10 spots listed. If I have to hit all spots this could be determined a bad bite day. The good thing is normally we only get to fish about the first three spots. I need to add that even though I have been fishing over fifty years I always write out a fish plan especially when heading out to the Savannah Snapper banks. And I always try to stick to my plan, because if I don't it messes up my "bottom-line." This term when talking about fishing means "not as many fish in the box!"
