Who needs Trout when the Redfish are on fire? The 26th and 27th were all about the color RED…….

On Saturday fishing with Glenn Cooper and his friend Ben we started off float fishing for Trout. The Trout bite just wasn't steady. After 2 spots and only 5 small Trout we decided to head up into a small creek and soak some crabs hopping for some good Redfish action. That is exactly what we got.

We had 11 hooked up and boated 9 and they were all studs from 7 pounds to a monster 10 pounds. They were all over 27 inches except one fish. It was 2 hours of string music as I like to call the drag screaming off the reel.

We tried shrimp and minnows but the only thing they wanted was the crab…..

Sunday I left the Trout rods at the house and loaded the cooler with live Blue crabs and John Fredricks his son Eric and myself headed for the shallow water after the big Reds again.

There is nothing like the fight of a solid Redfish in 2 foot of water. It was just like Saturday minus the wasted time on the Trout.

In less than 15 minutes of fishing the first Red was on and it was like that the rest of the morning. We caught 23 total Redfish from 5 pounds to a whopper 11 pounds.

The best part was that we stayed in the same creek and just moved in with the fish and the tide. Thanks to everyone for a couple of great days on the water.
