Shark fishing season is here!! February marks the beginning of the shark fishing season in Fort Lauderdale. Today we had a shark fishing charter and went out and caught about an 8ft hammerhead shark. The shark fishing season we have here in Fort Lauderdale is epic. From February to late May, thousands... no tens of thousands of sharks migrate through our waters, just a mile and half offshore of our coastline.

Hammerhead sharks are usually right at the front of this parade. T-Heads, our nickname for hammerhead sharks, swim northward up our coastline, heavily concentrated in 300-400ft of water. This is the inside edge of the gulfstream. Hammerheads can be caught on top or down on the bottom, they swim at all depths. While shark fishing, you can also catch mako sharks, thresher sharks, bull sharks, tiger sharks and any of the thousand species of sharks we have in our waters. Some of these sharks are 10ft or larger and 300 pounds plus. Get ready for an awesome shark fishing season, they are already starting to bite. Good luck fishing everyone, tight lines.
