Fishing report for the week ending 8-22-2010
Snook have been primarily on the beaches and around the passes with the best times early and late, midday heat does nothing to get these fish active.
I have been targeting redfish on the high outgoing tides on mangrove shorelines and oysterbars, live shinners or cut ladyfish work best. The reds have been on the smaller 20-24 inch range and numbers are down.
Sea trout, mackerel, ladyfish and the occasional bluefish have been the most consistent anywhere you can find schools of bait. Some of the trout have been surprisingly good with 20-24 inch fish showing up regularly.
Sharks are the ticket especially if you want something bigger. There are plenty of small blacktips and on a trip Friday we caught three lemons up to 80 lbs. Always a crowd pleaser.
