This past Friday after spending Thanksgiving eating and watching football i received a call from an old client who wanted to have a leisure day on the water with his son. I suggested the best thisng was to anchor up in 60 - 70 feet of water and chum up the yellowtail and any other species that may come up to our chum slick. We fished just Northeast of the Elbow in Key Largo. Current conditions where not strong but enought to keep the line flowing of the spool with minimul help. Once the chum was deployed it did not take long before Triggerfish showed up. These toothy critters are fun on light tackle but make sure you have 20 lb test minimum as leader. After a few triggers the yellowtail snapper hit the slick. The fish where not big averaging a lb, but lots of fun on light tackle. We ended the day with a smorgasbord of Grunts, Yellowtail Snapper, Triggerfish, and a couple of Mutton Snappers for the dinner table. Further to the north by Pacific Reef i heard of a good bite of kingfish in around 140 feet of water. There continues to be a great bite of Spanish Mackerel near the range markers South of Key Biscayne. The Sailfish bite has been hit or miss.
