On a charter on Saturday 5-30-09 we took a break from the redfish action to target snook. With the water temperatures in the upper 70's, the snook have started feeding in preparation for their summer spawning mode. Throughout the day, my clients hooked into many snook but were unable to get them to the boat. Either the snook spit the hook or broke the leader off. On our last stop of the day one of the guys hooked to be a monster fish. After 5 to 8 minutes of hard battle with a monster snook, my client was able to get him boatside and in the landing net. This snook measured out at right under 45 inches in length, and weighed 23lbs. A true trophy Snook for the birthday client!
