Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/23/08
We were blessed this week with some overcast skies, some light winds and some pretty good fishing. Even though the bites came in streaks with some long dead time between them, Guntersville offered up some pretty good fishing this past week.
We found fish in old creek beds, roadbeds and some ditches most of the week. However every day seemed somewhat different as far as what they would hit. One day it was pitching Tight-Line Jigs the other big worms and then one day in the wind they responded to Punisher Spinner Baits, there new short arm single Colorado blade in watermelon color.
I was all over the lake this week working from the upper end to the lower end on different days. Most of my fish were caught in 5 to 9 feet of water and most the bites were in-group's, as the fish seemed to be stacked in similar areas. The biggest thing missing was size as we only put a 4 lb fish in the boat, the numbers were good but the size was down.
The fall bite is coming quickly the fishing is getting better and it should be a great fall on Guntersville. Come fish the grass, it's great challenge and will be a great time for the best of the fisherman.
