Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 9/29/07
The past week on the water had its ups and downs; we had a few days where we had some cloud cover, and some days where the blue bird skies were really bright and made the fishing tough.
As usual this time of year the cloudy rainy days produced some good bites and the high-pressure days were extremely difficult. I personally believe that the heat last week moved the fish back out of the back coves for a few days and moved the bite out toward the river channel in the scattered grass.
We really didn't find the big fish this past week but we caught some good numbers when they bit but the bigger fish were just not as aggressive. The bait of the week for me was a rattletrap as most of our fish were caught yo-yoing a trap. We did catch fish on Punisher's Spinner baits watermelon and ghost color, a big worm, Tight Line Jigs and top water baits. It appeared that the time of the day and weather really made the fish hit different baits most of the week.
With the cooling nights here I expect to see a real feeding furry over the next month before the winter fishing sets in. The fishing should be great in October and early November. I have select openings every week during the next 2 months. Please call for details.
