This week has been a blast in Biscayne Bay for little Tarpon according to Captain Rich Smith. There seem to be dozens of Tarpon ready to eat just about every morning. The key is using live pinfish on a 4/0 circle hook for a sure hook up. These fish are 10-60 pounds and love to jump.
Permit are still on just about any flat on the west side of Biscayne Bay. The dark bottom of Biscayne Bay's western side holds heat better, which keeps more permit in the area. Think of it like wearing a black T-Shirt in the hot sun and how much warmer you feel than if you were to wear a white T-Shirt. This principle can also be applied during the winter time when trying to find Bonefish right after a cold front.
Snook fishing in Flamingo is still great all over the place, especially on the beaches. Chartreuse colored Bass Assassin Eels have been the bait of choice for snook on the beaches. Redfish and trout have remained constant on the flats in front of Flamingo like always.
