As the winds finally swept through the area, we were rewarded with some mild days out on the water. Lots of eager anglers were around the river and along the beaches enjoying the nice fall weather. Fishing has been good this week and should continue to produce good catches around the area.

The best activity has been the pompano out from the Power Plant, the mackerel along the surf and the many species feeding around the inlet and turning basin in Fort Pierce. Jacks, bluefish, mackerel and ladyfish are thick around the turning basin this week and will hit anything shiny. It provides lot of great action for all ages.

The river is in a transitional stage right now as the water temperatures begin to drop with each cold front that moves through the Treasure Coast. Fish will move to deeper water as the temps continue to drop and sun themselves on the flats during the heat of the day. If you don't find fish in your usual fishing spots, move a little deeper or try different areas that might hold warmer water. As winter creeps into the area, fish adjust to the changes in climate and so must the anglers. Watch for schools of baitfish and fish around those areas. If there is no bait around you, you might want to move to another area. The fish will still have to eat!

As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby, it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing and Be Safe,

Capt Charlie Conner
