Inshore:

It's been typical summertime weather around the Treasure Coast so far this month. Beautiful sunny mornings to enjoy and lots of afternoon chances of thunderstorms. Watching the sunrise lately has been breathtaking! Expect these conditions throughout the rest of summer. It's a wonderful time of year to enjoy the fishing around the area. I love this time of year!

We have enjoyed a variety of fish on the river lately. Redfish, trout, snapper and a few snook on the flats. Steve and Nick found a variety of fish on a fun filled morning. Rhonda and Jim were out on a challenging day. It ended up windy, but they caught plenty of fish in spite of conditions. Captain Adam White and I took a day to explore some other areas around the river. We found a few nice trout and enjoyed a scenic adventure to areas I haven't fished in a while. It was a nice week on the water.

We are finding trout in shallow water on the grass flats at first light. Top water lures will get you some good strikes by some nice size fish. Move to the edges of the flats as the sun gets higher and switch to DOA shrimp or CAL jerk baits. Docks have also been holding a nice variety of fish this week. Mangroves can hold redfish, snook and snapper under the shadow lines. There has been lots of baitfish around the area. Fish around bait schools when you see them. Lots of big fish will follow the bait schools this time of year.

Offshore fishing has been fantastic so far this month. Dolphin, kingfish and cobia are just a few of the species that anglers have enjoyed catching in June. Bottom fishing for snapper and grouper has also been outstanding for those anglers. Everyone endures the challenges of winter and spring weather to get to this time of year when both the weather and fishing are super!

Summer is a time when you must prepare for both sunshine and heat when out on the water. Sunscreen and fluids are essential this time of year. A little precaution can save a lot of pain! Enjoy the summer and have fun out there!

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,

Captain Charlie Conner
