We started from Jensen Beach Causeway with the seas in the river a very rough 2-3' conditions. Looking for areas that were protected from the wind knowing that the water clarity would be much better than areas that had been at constant battering of the winds and waves. We arrived in an area just north of Nettles Island that was wall protected and started throwing DOA Shrimp in chartreuse color. Second cast of the trip was immediately grabbed and off and running with a SLOT sized Snook on the other end. We got the fish into the boat and had the second fish hooked up while removing the hook. The second fish was an over slot fish of 40" and was quickly released unharmed. After fishing this area for another 15 minutes we decided that one Slot Snook was enough for the trip and ventured out across Herman's Bay and the rough weather to reach an area of flats north that were protected by the winds as long as we stayed within 300 yards of the shoreline. As we pulled into the first calm spot we immediately spotted a large Redfish school. First cast with a DOA Shrimp produced the first hook up and as soon as the second lure hit the water it was also inhaled by a large Red. We managed to boat both fish and both were released even though both were legal fish. We continued to work the same area and the Reds were just plain hungry, if a bait came within 3' of the fish it was eating it. We continued working further north to look for concentrations of other fish and found schools of large (4-9 pound) Trout holding in the potholes. They were also very receptive to the DOA Shrimp and we boated 10 fish before the wind changed direction again and just made the river a beast. we decided that returning to the dock was the best judgement and worked our way down the river.

SO, even in the worst of wind conditions the fish are just going crazy on the flats around the Jensen beach area. So book a charter with us and see what all the talk is about. Get Hooked!
