Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Pete Kramer, Dan Medrano, Jack Belyea and Dan Rooney from Kramer Management Group chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL Winds were out of the east at 5 mph, blue skies, seas were running 2-3 ft, temperatures in the mid 80's.

After greeting the group on board the boat, their request was to catch any type of fish but have a good time while doing it. Pete showed his interest in catching a Sailfish, so I hoped for more wind so that we could fly the kite later in the trip.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. In the past couple of days, Wahoo fishing was very productive, so we started off with two plainers, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and pink sea witch in front of a double hooked Ballyhoo. For surfaces we had four Ballyhoos.

The previous day our first bite was a 33 lb. Wahoo. Well, the same fish god blessed us again; the plainer rod tip bounced up and down and the line exited the reel at a fast rate. Mark, our mate, looked up at me and I nodded confirmation that it was a good probability of another Wahoo. Twenty minutes later, the blue and silver torpedo was along side of the boat as he shook his head frantically from side to side trying to dislodge the hook. With one motion, Mark gaffed and placed the Wahoo inside the boat as Jack, the angler, gleamed with his accomplishment for the 32 lb. Wahoo.

From there I trolled from one artificial wreck to the other catching Kingfish and Bonitos, while waiting for the wind to pick up so we could fly the kites. We tried putting the kites up but to no avail – Mother Nature did not blow hard enough. We continued to troll hooking up and catching two Bonitos, seven Kingfish and two Barracudas, which joined the Wahoo in the fish box.

With that, the Kramer group retired into the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
