Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Joe and Lucy Abbadessa along with their two sons, Gabe and David, and their friend, Sean all from Tampa chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Winds were out of the east at 5 mph with blue skies and temperatures in the high 80's.

After leaving the dock, fifteen minutes later we were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale in 120 ft. of water 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down, one with a blue and pink sea witch with a double hooked Bonito strip and the other with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. Before we could get the fourth bait in the water, one of the plainer rods bent over; Gabe was our first angler and reeled in a nice 15 lb. Kingfish. David was our next angler followed by Joe, Sean and Lucy.

From there I could see some birds working offshore of Fort Lauderdale. I headed towards that area and could see the Tunas feeding on the surface. One of the plainer rods got hooked up – David was our angler and watched the line peel off the reel. I remarked that that was going to be a good size fish. David had a tug of war back and forth with the fish for fifteen minutes – finally, Dave, our mate, leaned over the side and gaffed a Black Fin Tuna weighing 24 lbs. Nice Catch!!!! We kept trolling the area and wound up catching five Black Fin Tunas, one Mahi Mahi, five Bonitos, three Barracudas and seven Kingfish – five of the Kingfish were between 14 to 19 lbs.

With smiles on all their faces and an excellent catch, it was time to head back from our deep sea fishing charter to the Bahia Mar Dock, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The anglers enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock in the a/c salon.
