Bass fishing is Fair The Bass have slowed down with the cold weather moving in.
The Largemouth are being caught on several patterns. Gravel and rocky secondary points are producing well using crank baits and Rat L Traps. Deeper rocky banks and rip rap with 6 feet of water or more is also producing well on crank baits and jigs. The Spotted Bass have moved up shallow on points, sand bars and shallow humps in the mid to lower lake. A shallow running crank bait like the new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com is working awesome right now ! It is the best shad imitation crank bait I have ever used ! Rat L Traps are also working well.

Crappie fishing is fair. The crappie have moved off of the drop offs and suspended in the middle of the river channel in Little River 10 to 14 feet deep. A float and fly technique works well on these inactive suspended fish. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 8 or 10 foot length with double 1/6 ounce jigs under a medium egg float, fish it slowly just over these fish. The upper Chattooga River above the highway 68 bridge is also producing some fish casting a float and fly to the edges of the old river channel.
Striper fishing is Fair The stripers are in the main lake below the cause way in Cedar Bluff down to the dams in Leesburg. Look for the fish on flats near the river channels. Anytime they are generating power, fish the rocks on either side of the dam and the 2 points at the mouth of the canal. Watch for the gulls to circle and dive into the water, move close to the area, then cast a Gizz 4 crank bait to the area for some fast action or use live bait or a 3 inch Sassy Shad on a 1/4 ounce jig head. The White Bass and Yellow Bass are schooling on top early and late in the main lake, look for flats near the old river channel near Yellow Creek. Use a White or Yellow Rooster Tail or a Little George for lots of action.
Use a All Pro Rods Striper Special APX series. www.allprorods.com The Finest Fishing Rods Available Today !
To keep your live bait Alive make sure to use a Keep Alive Bait Tank and Oxygen Infuso2r Aeration System www.keepalive.net
Catfish are biting great. The bigger catfish are biting awesome. The docks at JR's Marina are producing some 20 to 40 pound Blues every night. Use a Crappie head or rib cage with no weight and use at least 25 pound test line. If no Crappie heads are available use cut Bream.
