Ran with a light load, I think it was the thoughts of success that held back success itself. I looked forward to fishing with a few other vessels, having the squid come up and just wail on them. To begin with, the weather was a tad jackass, meaning windy, snappy wind due to wind chop, nasty waves. We got eveyone hooked up, but couldn't spread the joy to our neighboring vessels, which we were all hoping would have been the case. Of course, another vessel Bonechiller Rick Ross came by with a hot meal for me anyway, I was hoping I could reciprocate, but I guess another day. We 'found' the squid, actually under the boat 50 to 75 feet. So we had gotten them up, but kept dropping through them, trying to catch them deeper. Got to the point we couldn't gaff them fast enough. Quit at 125, as we spent too much time, trying to ignite a massive squid catch. Ran the crab gear for 10 limits. Really funny how our outside gear fished better on a one day soak than a 1 week soak. When we came in to run the crab, things were better on the outer string, and much better weather wise ont he inside string. Lots of room for a Monday trip and the weatherman is forecasting tremendous water. Figures, after most have to go back to work!
