Last friday was started out fishing lakes off the main river with a lot of different lures ,mostly topwater that could be worked through and around the thick weeds, after lots of blowups and a couple lost fish we managed to get some to the boat that came on Highrollers 3.25 HR and a buzzbait .
Then it was time to go to the main river and see how it would be , as we approached where we were going to start the water was exploding with bass and skipjacks (AKA Ladyfish)chasing bait.
We each had a Steel Shad tied on and it matched the baitfish close enough that 32 bass were willing to eat them along with a bunch of the skipjacks .
Early this week we were back out and 13 bass fell victim to the Steel Shad in a couple hours.
They are hanging out on the points near deep water and in the river bends and are waiting on the baitfish to pass by.
Wednesday started out slow without any takers till 10;30 before that the river had been stopped and did not have any current but as soon as the current started moving the fish became active, most were taken on the Steel Shad again with a few on a topwater prop bait worked close to the pads in the main river on outside channel bends.
