Summer temps are here in mid Dec.The past two days we have seen temps in the mid to upper 80's and the FOG has been thick until 11 am the past two mornings. At one time yesterday morning I could not see one of my clients standing in the front of the boat at 10 am.

My clients the past two days have been Father and Daughter Mark and Megan from MINN. This trip was a birthday gift from Mom Sandy to the two of them. We figured on shiner fishing both days as Megan was looking for a 10 pounder to hang on the wall at the new house.

Yesterday started out slow as we were unable to run the River because the fog was so bad but when the fog lifted at 11 am we were able to get to the areas I was wanting to fish and it didn't take long for the fish to start biting. The total was 8 with all but 1 weighing between 4 and 6 pounds.

This morning we put the boat in near the area we were planning to fish and thank God we did as the fog was heavier then yesterday. First stop Dad (Mark) landed a nice 8 pounder and another fish about 5 pounds. At the second spot Megan's shiner was under a grass mat when I heard the line alarm start sounding off. By the time I looked up Megan was doing battle with a big fish and it was giving her a fit. After getting the fish out from under the floating mat this big fish went into the jumping mode as it jumped 4 times in front of the boat. I will say I was a little nervous watching this big fish clear the water all 4 times it jumped but Megan fought this fish like a pro and before I knew it I had the lip lock on Megan's 10.8 pound Florida Trophy Bass.

The remainder of the day was a little slower then yesterday with a total of 5 fish caught but all fish were between 5 and 10.8 pounds. Megan will be having a replica mount done of the fish which was 26 inches in length and 22 inches in girth. All fish were released to fight another day.

Today we were fishing the Blue Springs Area of the St Johns River and catching our fish in 4 to 8 ft of water under floating grass mats on larger Wild Shiners. Folks it is Trophy Bass Fishing Time In Florida. The past four trips have produced 3 fish over 10 pounds with the biggest weighing 12.8.
