Weather is playing a major roll in the fish catching here in Central FL.
It seems that the days we have nice weather in the 70's with no wind
the fishing is as tough as it can get.On the other hand the cooler windy
days are just the opposite and if you can stand the cold and wind the
day is well worth it.
On Monday I had a double trip 6 HR morning and 6 HR evening with two
different clients. The morning started out a little cool at 42 degrees
and the bite was on the first hour until we seen the sun coming up.
The fish shut down about 20 minutes later and
never really turned back on during the rest of the morning. My client Greg
of MN ended the 6 HR trip with 8 fish to 5 .4 pounds.
My afternoon clients Bruce and Diane were in for a tough afternoon. We
fished one of the areas I have been doing really well in the past two weeks.
Bruce and Diane sat patiently for three hours and watched a couple shiners
get chased by fish but never hit.We were sitting in 73 degree weather
and zero winds.Around 4pm a breeze picked up from the east blowing
into the area we were fishing and with in minutes the fish started busting every
shiner we put in the water,In one hour Bruce had landed the fish of a lifetime
weighing 11 pounds and Diane landed a fish that was 7.5 and a total of
six fish were caught in that one hour with three between 4 and 11 pounds.
Tuesday started a two day trip with a couple regular clients of mine that
fly in every year for some Trophy Bass Fishing. The wind blew 35 mph
on Tuesday with gust to 47 according to the Sanford Airport. The fishing was ok
but we could not fish one of my better areas due to the winds.A total of 8 fish were
caught up to 6 pounds.Today Wed the 3rd we were greeted with 43 degree
air temps and 20 mph NW wind.I headed to the area we couldn't fish
yesterday and found the fishing a little slow but the size was great.
We ended the 6 HR trip with 5 fish between 4 and 9 8 pounds.
Butch was happy to catch the fish of a lifetime weighing 9.8 beating his
personal best by 1 pound.
The big fish we have caught the past three days are spawned out.
With the full moon just getting over I think we will start to see another
wave of big females move in the next few days.
