Fished the Staten Island Tuna club shark tourn with the Danny McCahon charter. Caught this Hammerhead at the Glory hole in the 9th inning (hooked @4:15 - boated @4:30). Ran full throttle all the way home at 33kts empting all ice and anything else to lighten the load. Rounded Sandy Hook at 5:52 and raced across the bay with other boats cheering us on. With 500yds to go the scales closed. Made the entry point at 6:02. At this point no other sharks had made the scales. One other boat slipped in at 5:58 with a 486lb Thresher who took 1st place. We would have taken 2nd and split 3rd with the winner, about $5000 for us. The guys with the Thresher got all the money,1st, 2nd, and, 3rd place. One of the most exciting days I've ever had on the water, but it did'nt pay off in the end. Our fish weighted in at 152lbs.

Now that the Striped Bass have moved on we've been concentrating on Fluking and Bluefishing. The fluking action has been hot with plenty of fish coming over the rails but a 20-1 ratio being keepers. Blue fishing has been solid with fish from 3lbs to 15lbs. Shark fished with the Chris Logan party on 7/7 and had two Makos at the boat in the first hour, one weighing 100lbs(released) and the other going 140lbs which made the barbeque. Also picked up 3 Bluefin Tuna at around 20- 30lbs on the way home (released must be 47 inches). Had the Mike Sealy party out for 5 Blue sharks at the boat on 6/25 all to be released. Both trips were 40-45 miles offshore.
