This week at the Stick Marsh found some steady conditions weather wise. This has lead to a consistent bite and good catching situations with reports of 40-50 fish days. Schooling fish could be found in various locations. Once located, plenty of good sized fish were caught. Windier conditions prevailed on the weekend with the passing of a cold front, which prevented certain exposed areas from being fished effectively.
Fish were caught in a variety of spots on multiple baits including Carolina rigged trick worms, tubes, and stick baits. Spinner baits and crank baits were also productive in certain areas.
Recent rain showers have still been steady and as a result the flow of water through the lake has been nearly constant. Water has been rushing at the spillway on a daily basis and the pumping station moves water intermittently. Vegetation control has also been evident in some areas near the NW outlet.
The onset of some cooler temps has brought about increasing numbers. Not only in number of fish being caught but also in the number of fisherman trying. This was evident in the number of trailers in the parking lot on the weekend. Even with the small increase of weekend anglers it still seems very quiet on the lake.
