5-1-10 Had Bob W. and Liam V. aboard today. Headed out at 7AM, flat calm conditions. Made the 18 mile run up to the Northwest Corner of Stellwagen in 35 minutes. Plenty of boats on the water today. It was less than a minute before we Bob picked up his first fish of the year. A keeper codfish. Soon we had a few in the boat, but nothing big, so we decided to go looking for larger fish. We moved just a bit South, away from the fleet and found a nice bunch of fish in the 10-15 lb range. We jigged for a couple hours and the action was steady, 95% of the fish were keepers and the biggest was about 20lbs. Having just about caught our limit of cod we moved East searching for Haddock. 180 ft of water was the right depth. We hooked a dozen or so haddock in a short time and also a big toothy wolf fish (catch and release only as of May 1). We also jigged up a nice sea scallop. Live Sea Scallop Sashimi is one of my favorites (yum). We ended the day with Liam getting a nice double header on 10 lb. cod. A smooth ride home and we were back at the dock by 2:00. Get out now while the fishing is hot. www.tidehuntercharters.com
