Suggestions For those Freshwater Fishing Night Owls!
Anthony Conrad and Angela soon to be Mrs. Conrad…. fished and had a ball at catching this past week! I will set the stage by saying, "it's all about the night time hours!" According to Anthony large mouth bass like to put on the old nighttime feed bag. Back in the old days Anthony use to be a fresh water tournament fisherman or I guess I should say, "tournament winner!' At any rate, with this being said, "he knows the whims inside and out of the large mouth bass!"
While fishing with 20-pound test line he tied on a black Arbogast jigger bug lure, which is considered top water hard bait. The working of this lure is as important as the type that you are using. With that being said, "there is a special way of working this style of lure!" Lets start with the simple landing of the lure when cast to the location desired. Once making that initial splash down it's necessary to let the circle of ripples made to get at least 4 to 5 inches before you go into the retrieval mode. There are two types of retrieval mode for this particular lure, which has been proven by Anthony time and time again. There is the slow and slower retrieve, which means act like someone put you in "slow motion!" Then there is the "fast fast retrieve," which as you already guessed the "gets the lure up in the go fast mode!" This working mode can be decided by the amount of attention you get from each move. Anthony suggestion is to work a little of both keeping a more natural stage of value. In other word working too much of a good thing can be bad!
The Arbogast Story
Fred Arbogast was one of those types of fishermen that loved to fish, came up with his own designs, and he didn't mine adjusting them until they worked. Before his creation of the jigger bug he had perfected quite a few different lures. Some of his great firsts were Spin Tall Kicker, Tin Liz, and Hawaiian wigglers. The Hawaiian Wiggler might have been the first lure to actually be dressed up in a skirt. The bottom line to this story is what worked yesterday is still working today!
