Fishing report for the week ending 5/22/2011
The summer heat is on and we are finally getting some less windy days making for better sight fishing for tarpon. Several of the mornings this week made it tough getting offshore but by 10 or 11 each day it would get a lot more manageable for tarpon fishing.
Numbers have been ok but not great I have yet to see any big schools but with some calmer weather the bait should get more ganged up and with it mackerel, sharks and tarpon in bigger numbers. All indications are for a good June up until rainy season kicks in.
Sharks are everywhere Hammerheads, blacktips, duskys and lemmons are off the beaches and in the bay.
Bay fishing has been good with a lot less preasure being put on snook, redfish and trout. We went thru a bait hatch last week that slowed it a bit but we seem to be comming out of it now. Spanish mackerel are anywhere you can find live bait.
Memorial weekend is comming up remember to be safe and give other boaters room to fish. There are still open days in June for Tarpon and Shark fishing.
