After a long cold spring the nice walleyes are now showing up on the deeper humps. We're just beginning to get into the time of year that makes the Chip such a great summer fishing lake. With the dark water and variety of bottom types, daytime walleyes can be had on the brightest days. I've been finding nice walleye lately around the trashy bogs and humps where there is deep water nearby using the old faithful 1/8oz jigs with a twister tail or 1/2 a night crawler. There's plenty of LM Bass action if you just keep moving around the weed beds with the occassional nice SM for extra fun. The Crappies have scattered but the Sunnies are still wherever you can find an open spot in the weeds.

Don't be afraid of the July heat or even the dog days of August. A half day in the early morning or late evening on the Chip will give you a good chance to learn art of jig fishing the deeper water with enough low light time to try cranks on the shallower weeds.
