Sal Mattino

This morning report begins with securing a live well full of sardines. After that part of business was taking care of we started out to the Eight mile reef.We were looking for a few dolphin as table fare with not much success! Since the dolphin bite was slow this morning,we decided to bend the rods with some Atlantic Bonito or known to some people affectionatley as Boneheads!

The Bonehead action has been steady this year. The bite for boneheads is usually over by the end of June. This year it seems everything is running late. We had some hard action with a few small Amberjacks working the biceps muscles to full cramping mode. After the battles were over with the Boneheads & Amberjack we finished off the day with a hard hitting acrobatic Atlantic Sailfish. We chased the Sail with the vessel so we would not exhaust the fish completely! Once at the boat side there was plenty of fight left with a couple of tail walks right at the starboard side of the boat. Once secured we were able to secure a photo & release the fish unharmed!Thats my report on this day from St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters! I am Capt. Sal Say safe & fish well!
