[Miami] During the daytime, the main fish out on the reef are going to be kingfish, bonito, and barracuda. Use light tackle for these species and on some days, your arms will ache from fighting so many fish.

[Miami] This past weekend was the Islamorada Swordfish Tournament. This swordfish tournament is not like most of the swordfish tournaments where biggest fish wins, but is more like a BBC where releases count as well as weighed fish.

[Miami] We fished for swordfish with Rick and his lady on Sunday night and had a swordfish swim through the lights and caught a good sized shark. Of course all was not lost as we had caught 6 snook , 2 out of 4 tarpon and 3 barracuda before heading offshore.

[Venice] The swordfish bite lately has been very good. There has been about a dozen fish broght to the docks by only a few boats. I had four trips on the books but the weather only allowed me to run two of them.

[Miami] Since my last report, I was on vacation for a week, back to the Bahamas a few times, and fished Miami for a few days. Also since my last report, it seems we have been inundated with lots of rain. Along with the rain come thunderstorms and lightning which unfortunately has cancelled a lot of our swordfish trips.

[Miami] We are definitely in our summer pattern. That equates to mainly bonito, kingfish, and barracuda on the reef during the day. There will be a few sailfish and blackfin tuna caught but not on every trip.

Some of you have had success (Way to go Mike, Richard, and Jonny!), while some of you have not been able to put my tactics to work yet, or if you have you didn't tell me how you did.

[Miami] My long trip from the Bahamas is over. We had a great time and caught lots of fish with some of my best customers. I spent a little less than two and a half weeks in the Bahamas and targeted yellowfin tuna, big dolphin, trolled for blue marlin and also did a little bit of bottom fishing. For the tunas, we caught plenty of yellowfins from 30 to 70 pounds and a few blackfins.

[Venice] I knew that the northen gulf had swordfish since a few other captains have caught them up here. And I finaly had the crew to give them a shot. So I studied the charts and pulled my swordfish gear out of the closet to give them a shot.

[Miami] We just finished another super trip to Bimini. We were there with the Aizpuru family, dad Rick, sons Matt and Dan, and their friend John Mahoney. The weather was flat calm with 88 degree highs.

[Miami] May fishing has stayed super day after day and even most nights. The 15th we fished with Joe and Jay Della Monica and friend Jack. They caught 2 sailfish, 2dolphin, 2 barracuda, several bonito, 6 king mackerel and closed out this 8 hour trip with 3 tarpon from 80 to 120 pounds.

[Miami] We have had some really good fishing the last two nights. We took out some guys from the MTV awards show on Tuesday night. They only had two and a half hours to fish. In that time we caught bait ( not very easy at the time), executed a rescue with EMS and the Coast Guard and caught a few nice fish.

[Miami] We had some good nights since then averaging anywhere from 1 to 3 fish a night, with our largest at 100 pounds. We did have a night we caught 4 fish (all small and released) and we also had a night were we only had one bite that we managed to miss.

[Miami] Boy, it has been a busy week. Some great catches ands some just good. We shot a TV show with Mark Sosin which should air in March. It would be seen on OLN at 8 PM eastern time on a Monday night. We should know the date before it airs. We caught big jacks on plugs and flies as well as a big permit and amberjack.
