I use this rod for casting big baits to sharks, bluefish, etc. It is the perfect rod for such as good price.

Rating: Shimano Teramar TMS80XXH Best Beach Tarpon Fishing Rod
Reviewed on September 28, 2010 by MIke from South Florida

As advertised this rod is made to cast big baits to big fish from the beach. More specifically a big mullet to a big tarpon. I paired my Shimano Teramar TMS80XXH with a Zeebass Reel for beach fishing. The combo allows me to swim baits out, dunk my reel, and cast baits out far to wear the fish are. This combo is very much my favorite and I usually don't like spinning combos, but this works out very well. The guides are awesome and I never get knots in my braid when casting out nor do I wrap on the tip ever like other rods I have tried out in the past. The rod has great backbone and a good tip to allow for the good cast. When casting smaller baits this rod is probably overkill, but hey if you want to catch big fish you fish big baits and big gear!!! LET ER EAT
