Tampa Bay, Anna Maria Island Fishing Report

The heat has finally turned on around here and it finally feels like June. The past few days the Tarpon have been just pouring in. We really have a large number of Tarpon in the area in just the last few weeks. It seems that on this full moon we received even more. Tarpon are starting to show everywhere. There are schools to the south, schools to the north, schools in the bay and Anna Maria Island is covered up with them. It should be really good over the next several weeks. We didn't lose any fish to this last full moon so it seems the Tarpon may spawn a little later which means they should run a little later this year. It looks like the Tarpon will run strong into July, at least the second week. We will probably fish them even later which means I should have a few more Tarpon trips available for anyone who wasn't able to get theirs. So far it has been a great season, nice weather and plenty of fish. My record for a day is still 8 landed this year, but maybe I will topple that this week, we sure have the numbers of fish to make it possible. With so many different schools of tarpon scattered throughout the area it leaves us plenty of options throughout the day.

I spent a couple days over the past two week's inshore fishing. Snook fishing has been strong with lots of smaller fish. The Red fishing has also been very good. On my last trip we had no problem catching a limit of Reds and left them biting. Most of the Reds have been nice size slot fish, 24 to 26 inches long with a few over slot, over 30 inches.

I just had a cancelation for Wednesday the 18th. If anyone is interested call now, there is a hundred dollar deposit toward the charter.

Hope you enjoyed my report and enjoy your time on the water.
