The charter boat Happy Day Today is a 46' Hatteras based out of Ft. Lauderdale. We offer half, 3/4 and all day fishing charters. Catching Sails, Mahi, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Cobia and Sharks. Also the we offer tarpon fishing charters out of fort lauderdale for the chartering. Tonight we had a four hour Tarpon fishing charter and we do not fish out of the Hatteras, we do have another smaller boat to Tarpon fish out of which is a 20' center console. Fishing out of Port Everglades inlet which is our just a mile from our Ft. Lauderdale mooring location.
We started at 7pm and fished just outside the inlet. Our first bite was at 10pm and caught one Tarpon out of Fort Lauderdale on the mini charter boat for topshotfishing. Then another twenty minutes later, a double header, catch one of the two. And just before we were about to bring the lines in, we got connected to a fish for about five minutes and lost the Tarpon. All the fish are ranging from 40 to 70 pounds.
The wind started out of the Southeast, then switched to the South, then Southwest, which made for a tough drift. We compensated and still maintained fishing our lines straight as they should be. The moon rose around midnight and our bites were an hour before the moon rose, also we were fishing the flooding tide.
Using live shrimp as bait and 4/0 hooks with 60 pound test. If interested in a Tarpon charter, please contact the captain Zsak at (954) 439-8106 to reserve a fishing charter or website is www.topshotfishing.com
