Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 11/21/07
I only spent the first few days of the week on the water this past week, with the Thanksgiving Holiday. The bass are definitely spreading the lake and moving off the river channel to the creeks. The bait has moved to the mouth of most the creeks, and hence the bass are with them.
The first part of the week was blue sky and high pressure and hence the bite was hard to come bye. The grass is still extremely thick and that has also made it tough, as the fish are not schooling up like they normally would when the grass dies off.
The fish we did catch were on the edges of the grass, hitting rattle baits, jerk baits and some still on top water with a buzz bait. One day looking for some good tournament fish we spent most of the day fishing Tight-Line Jigs in the 9-foot edges along the grass. This produced some bigger fish but the numbers were down.
I believe the fish will be tough to find until we get enough cold to kill the grass down, and we get past the short sunlight days and then it should pick up substantially. Lets hope for enough cold weather to help us along and maybe as we turn into the longer days past the 21st of Dec. we will see some great improvement in the fishing.
