Fishing Report. Lake Guntersville 5/10/08
Water Temperature 73 degrees
What a great week on the water, we caught good numbers of bass every day, and a couple of the days we had some big Guntersville lunkers. The wind blew, there were bad weather warnings, there were high-pressure sunny days none of it stopped the bite this past week. The bass are at all stages and all depths and anyone can find them. I guess it doesn't get much better than that.
This past week was all about the Punisher Spinner bait bite early in the mornings for my clients, that big ¾ to 1 oz. bait in watermelon color produced fish on the ledges every day. After the spinner bait bite was over each morning we headed to the grass edges in the shallow water and found top-water fish several times also. One morning we found some schooling fish during mid morning and caught a bass every cast for about 30 minutes on top. After that bite slowed we changed to a big Mister Twister lizard and it produced fish the rest of the day.
I spent most of the week in the mid lake and a few days up river, but I don't think location would have made a difference. The key was just being on the water and throwing the right bait. If you love top-water fishing the time is getting rite and the bass are making it fun for the top-water fisherman.
Come fish with me I have several days still available in May and June, as this next 6 weeks should be the best time on the water.
