Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 12/22/07
The winter fishing is here the big bass are feeding and every day on the water is an opportunity to put a Guntersville Lunker in the boat. This past week we had several fish around 5 pounds one over six and the biggest for the week was 9.4 caught in the ditches around the mouth of the creeks.
I spent most of the week between the State Park and BB Comer Bridge fishing a variety of baits working a lot of different areas and patterns. The amazing thing about this past week was that everyday they seemed to want something different. One day we caught them on Tight-Line Jigs in royal shad color with a blue trailer, the next day on jerk baits, then worms and then small worms and crank baits. It was cloudy most of the week and the bait is still plentiful so the bass are feeding fairly well. We caught them schooling and fighting over baits and then caught some scattered with a bite here and there. This is winter fishing on Guntersville and I just love it, there is no better time on the water for me than winter fishing.
Now that we are past the shortest day of the year the fishing will just get better everyday. Enjoy it my friends, dress in layers and get on the water, it doesn't get any better than this.
