Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/8/08
Water Temperature 52- 55 degrees
With some nice weather days and the warming of the water temperature the bass are starting to show signs of the pre-spawn period. With the exception of Sunday most of the big fish are moving off the river channel to the shallows and looking for some early spring feeding.
This past week produced 2 days of 25 to 28 pound stringers best of 5 and the bass are hitting a variety of baits. We fished mainly mid river and it appears that the bass are looking for some spawning areas and feeding. Over the next 3 weeks everyday will gain activity and fishing should be excellent.
Most of my fish this week were caught on faster moving baits from rattle baits to swim baits and Punisher Lure Spinner Baits. One day produced some good fish on jerk baits but it was cold and windy. The bass are moving around on the ledges and banks and looking for food. If you put your bait in front of them you generally caught bass.
The lake is getting covered up every weekend with tournaments and the fishing pressure is going to increase. This past week two of my clients won respective tournaments with the biggest being the winner of the Bass Master Weekender Series winner being a client of mine.
