Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/26/08
In-between all the cold weather, nasty rain and wind; this past week on the water produced some Guntersville Hogs. The big fish moved up to feed and Guntersville added some big time fun for my customers. We had one day with only 7 fish but the smallest was about 4 1/2lbs. and the biggest about 7lbs. with a best of 5 over 25 pounds. A winning tournament string for sure.
The big fish were scattered on the backside as well the deep channel side, we were catching them mainly on Punisher's ¾ oz. Spinner baits in watermelon color. We were working it slow letting the bait stay in contact with the bottom, and the big fish would rip it out of your hand. We also caught fish on small worms, jerk baits and Tight-Line Jigs in royal shad color with a black neon trailer. There were definitely some memorable Guntersville moments.
Most of the week, I fished the mid to upper part of the lake working deep ledges and drop-offs with grass bottoms and access to deep water. You had to be patient as the bites weren't everywhere but they were generally good fish.
It's time to go fishing, come fish with me and I will help you win your next tournament.
