On Friday May first we were finally able to head West into the Gulf for some Kingfish action. I knew they were there, but getting to them has been the hard part. Loaded with bait and anticipation, we headed thru Long Boat Pass and saw the Gulf was not really angry but just a little pissed off. We made thru the 2 to 4 footers (more fours than twos) without much difficulty and made it out to the spot. Once on anchor we immediately started getting a chum slick going and it didn't take long to pay off. With in 5 minutes it was Kingfish ON! And that trend continued for several hours. We boated dozens of Kings ranging from schoolies to smokers with only minimal lulls in the action mixed in.

Breaking the rule of not leaving fish to find fish, we decided to mix things up a bit so we left the Kings to try something else. We pulled anchor and hit a couple of Grouper and Snapper spots and were able to get some of each for the cooler.

Let's hope the wind gives another break soon so we can head back out and stretch some more line.
