The day started on the chilly side with temp about 58 and water temp 67. After the latest cold front over the week end, the water temp dropped 4 degrees. That's ok because it was rising too fast any way.
After netting up some bait, I headed to first stop. I was targeting a spot that I had seem some snook hanging out last week. I staked out and throw out some chummers to see who's home. After a few minutes, first trout hit. A few minutes later another. Six trout all together one was a nice 24"er but no snook. The recent drop in water temp must have sent them else were.
Next stop, still looking for some snook, was real windy. After finally anchoring I set some lines out and chummed the area. I was fishing with a float about 3' up with a 24" piece of 20 lb Fluorocarbon leader. It was very difficult keeping the lines were you wanted them due to the wind. First redfish hit hard so hard that I thought for a second I had found mr. snook. Not to be this time. This was a nice 27" fat redfish about 9 lbs. Great tournament fish. After two more redfish the wind got to me and I left for the ramp.
Not bad for a short day. I did see a couple of snook laying around some sand areas but did not throw a bait.
Tip: Don't pass up a spot that you know fish are there or should be there just because the wind is up. Try it out you can always move quickly.
Remember "it's fun to catch".
