It’s hot… It’s cold… No, it’s hot… It’s that time of year where Mother Nature simply can’t make her mind up. However, fishing has remained great despite the frequent changes in weather we’ve had recently. We’ve had some really great days where we caught great numbers of fish.

Mostly, we’ve been fishing for and catching redfish, trout, and sheepshead. Redfish currently prefer shrimp as bait. On certain days, they have been eating a shrimp cut in half before devouring an entire shrimp. Go figure! We have caught some of the large redfish on a new MirrOlure soft plastic bait. We have been able to catch a few fish on Gulps, but for the most part, the MirrOlure soft baits have been the artificial bait of choice.

Jigs are hot not only with redfish, but with trout as well. We have caught some phenomenal trout the past few weeks, and the trout bite should even get better as the warmer weather moves into the area.

A little shark action!

When the weather has been extremely cold and we’ve wanted to catch fish to take home, we’ve done it with sheepshead. Sheepsheads not only taste good, they put up a great fight. Fishing is going to remain good and even get better as spring rolls around. Please visit www.castawaychartersinc.com and book your trip today! We have also created a Face book page….
