Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/10/08
Water temperature Main lake 49 degrees
Creeks 44 degrees
It's been a great week on the water for the avid bass fisherman. The big fish have been moving and feeding, and Guntersville has offered up some great winter bass fishing. Over the years when we get some warming days in January, Guntersville has produced some great catches and so far January 2008 has been no different.
The bites are not all over the lake but when you find them you have an opportunity to catch 4 or 5 schooled up and there is generally a good fish or two among them. Every day this week we put together some decent 5 bass stringers and managed to put a 5-pound bass or bigger in the boat.
I fished most of the week above Goose Pond working grass lines and ledges from about 15 feet of water up. This week my Punisher's Spinner bait produced the biggest bites, working a ¾ oz. Watermelon colored spinner bait off the edges of the grass lines. Tight-line jigs have also produced a few god fish in the royal shad color in a 3/8 oz. Weight with a black neon trailer.
Fishing keeps getting better and as we move into pre-spawn the good times will keep coming.
Come fish with me, let's catch some of these big winter Guntersville bass together.
