Fishing report for the week ending 12/13/09 Here we are two weeks until Christmas and we are fishing in shorts, you got to love it! With cool nights and days in the 80s our water temps are hovering around 70 which has kept tons of small silversides in the bay and near the beaches. Mackeral, Bluefish, trout and ladyfish are all feasting on this late run of food. In many years past this is something that would have been over in October. With the snook and redfish being much better near the days the fronts go thru many people are taking advantage of these agressive fish that make for some nonstop action. The mackeral, Bluefish and schooling size trout have been anywhere the birds and bait can be found in 3-6 ft. of water patchy grass bottom is best. Even though there is plenty of bait around I have found topwater plugs, softbaits and cutbait works as well if not better. Some of the cooler mornings with low tides have been productive for nice seatrout up to 3 lbs. with a few snook mixed in fishing potholes. Fishing Sunday with Todd Widom and Beth Eisenberg we caught Mackeral, Bluefish and Ladyfish early on softbaits and then some nice trout up to 3 lbs. and a few snook on topwater plugs. Pictured is Todd with a couple of the trout and a snook. Tight lines take advantage of this great weather get out and fish!
Remember its not to late to get a Christmas Gift certificate for that special someone that can be used anytime of year.
